The Shape of Things to Come
February 18, 2008

I’ve been busy working on a project lately, one I’ve wanted to do ever since I was a kid.
A comic book.
For the first time since I started studying art, I have something which will be truly and completely mine. I’ve been doing practice and studies for way too long, and it feels amazing to finally do something which is expressive, and — hopefully — says something.
I’m new at this, and there’s a lot I’m learning along the way by doing it wrong, but I’m completely excited. And I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I am enjoying creating it. When the first issue is done, I plan on making it a big deal. Perhaps dancing monkeys will be employed. Who knows?

P.S. Thanks for the comments, everyone! It means a lot to hear from people whose work you admire as well!

Here’s a glimpse of some stuff I’ve been working on. This is a story I’ve been developing for a little while. With luck, I’ll be putting pages up in the next few months as a webcomic. Until then, enjoy! Or not!

How me render?

Color and value work on this creature thing. This is a pretty shameless ripoff in technique and design, but it makes for fun practice. This “PinkyPillar” demon might look evil, but it actually reads to old people on the weekends. Just goes to show, you can’t always judge a book by its cover.
